String of Pearls Leaders
A unique set of individuals were recognized with induction into AMLA’s new “String of Pearls Leaders".
In the 1960s, Decatur Chamber Director Dick Ordway thought North Alabama had a number of quality travel destinations along the Tennessee River “like a string of pearls.” His efforts were the cornerstone for the creation of AMLA and his vision is what the “string of pearls” recognition is based on.
A feature video was done of each individual as they were presented with a string of pearls.
